To celebrate 150-year birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad and Gujarat Vishvakosh Trust, and Ravindra Bhavan has organized a mega two-day event on Friday and Saturday.
A musical evening of Rabindra Sangeet will be held on Friday at Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, while a seminar ‘My Tagore; Why Tagore’ would be held on Saturday at Vishvakosh Bhavan.
Calcutta-based Tagore scholar and poet Sankha Ghosh, poet William Radice, other noted scholars Partha Ghose, R Sivakumar , Martin Kaempchen, Prabodh Parikh, and Niranjan Bhagat would speak at the seminar.
Shailesh Parekh, one of the founder members of Ravindra Bhavan, said, “In the 150th year of Tagore’s birth, innumerable Tagore explorations – presenting a multidisciplinary analysis of his genius and evaluation of his message have taken place. Since there is great emphasis on the subject of exploration in Tagore’s works, the theme of the seminar is to explore various unique facets of the scholar’s work and personality.”
Sankha Ghosh of Kolkata, the legendary Tagore scholar, who has been often described as ‘concordance’ of Tagore would share the platform with other eminent scholars from various fields to explore the multi-faceted personality that Tagore was, informed Parekh. “Perhaps for the first time after a long gap, Tagore luminaries will appear on one platform in Ahmedabad this time,” he added.
