Chaiya Chaiya-fame Chennai based percussion pundit Sivamani, who has been drumming since the age of 7, is to set the city on fire with his ‘Asia Electrik’ mates ‘Zitar’ legend Nilathri Kumar and jazz king Louiz Banks. “We are all set to surprise city with fresh fusion notes especially composed for the Times Ahmedabad Festival,” said Sivamani who has shared stage with likes of Billy Cobham and tabla legend Zakir Hussain and has collaborated with A R Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan.

Sivamani, who has played drums for many notable films including Roja, Rang De Basanti, Taal, and Lagaan, said, “I am to perform in Ahmedbad after a long time hence plan to rock the city with special gift performance.” Sivamani is to be accompanied by Grammy Award nominated Louis Banks progressive contemporary jazz musician-keyboardist who has seamlessly fused Indian classical scales and Jazz rhythms.

“We are ready with a feast of fresh Fusion and are looking forward to perform,” said Zitar Virtuoso Niladri Kumar, son and disciple of Sitar Maestro Pandit Kartick Kumar belonging to family of professional sitar players since five generations.

Kumar, who has self-crafted five stringed instrument “Zitar,” playing a zany and zestful sound, said, “We are to touch the soul of audiences with refreshing pieces of ‘generation next’ music.”

Zitar Virtuoso Niladri Kumar says, “Fusion music does not follow any guidelines; therefore it gives the artiste wings for high soaring flights of artistic expression.” ¬
